I know there probably isn't an answer to this but my Neon tetra is biting my Bettas tail. Any ideas of what to do? will my Betta end up with no tail? if so, can they survive without a tail?

Do you just have the one neon?

They are a shoaling fish, and shouldn't really be kept in groups of less than six. Adding more, if your tank is big enough, should stop the nipping.

Ah, ok, that's a good start :)

Neons can be surprisingly nippy. You could still try adding a few more and see if that helps; otherwise you're going to have to separate your betta; he'll get very stressed and probably sick, if the neons keep bothering him :/

Could the Neons be hungry, is that why they are nipping his tail, thinking it's food.

No, it's very unlikely; as I said neons are one of those fish that can be very nippy, they just aren't known for it.

My neons are constantly nipping among themselves. I'd think if you got 2-3 more it should stop the nipping but you might have to seperate them.

with schooling fish, more will always alleviate these problems. I had this problem when I had 8, added 5 more, all better :)

how many neon tetras can I keep in my 60 litre tank?
