my neons eyes seem to be protruding from its head, and the body seems beaten up.
the tank is 55 gallon
i do water changes every day.
all the others are fine

i have 9 neons
in a 55 gallon tank know any water stats
i do water changes every day though so i would think nitrites wouldnt be a problem

i looked at the link,
and the eye of my neon doesnt look like any of those
it looks more as if i wasnt feeding the neon right, and it was more of a problem of under feeding -_-

Take a sample of your water to the lfs and tell them to write the readings down for you.
I would invest in some liquid test kits.
How long has the tank been set up?
Is there only the neons in the tank.
How often do you feed the fish.
Do you mean the neon looks thin.

the neon does look a litle thin
im going to the lfs tomarrow(saturday) to get some frozen foods to help variey the neons diet
and to buy some sword plants so ill get a reading then
ive had the tank up for 6 months, and it started as a planted aquarum but totally bombed
by clouding up
i waited for about 4 months for it to clear up, then took out all the plants, and ive been redecorating with easier live plants and plastic plants.
so really when i redid the tank, it never got a good cycle
i was thinking of taking my neons back to the lfs so the tank could cycle, but i didnt, and i think im paying the price

it could take a while if its a 55 gallons with only neons it it and they produce little waste.
Plus they are not cycling fish they really need mature tanks of 6 months.
Is the neon thin in the tummy region.
Does the belly look sunken in.
His is anus red inflamed or enlarged.
How his red stripe is it virant red or pale like bleached out.
How often do you feed the fish.

1 no
2 no
3 no
4 its still as bright as the others
5 i feed them once a day with crushed cichlid food(cringe) and i really need to get some frozen blood or tubifex worm!!
(going on saturday) what are ssome good cycling fish?

Sounds like he might not be getting enough food.
I would see if he eating when you add the food.

yes he is eating
i think its mal nutrition though because ive been feeding them crushed cchlid food and nofreeze dried or frozen food.

Fish need a varied diet to stay healthy.
I would get the frozen foods and see how he goes.
Being extremely thin can be not feeding enough, old age, fish tb, internal parasites, some external parasites can cause wieght loss.
Get your water tested as if he stressed that makes fish not want to eat.

thanks so much wilder
his colors are vibrant, its just his eyes
he doesnt seem to have any external parisites
and i will definetly get my water tested!!!!!!!

Does his eyes look sunken in.
Does he have a bent spine.
