Neon Missing An Eye!

I've just noticed, one of our neons is missing its left eye!

It doesnt look like its ill (mind you, they were all fine yesterday) or particularly stressed.. but it does look like it is trying to keep its distance from everything else.

From what I've read here, Melafix should help it from being infected, but will it be ok to put it into my main tank with the rest of the other fish?

as long as the water quality is good then yes, but it will be prone to infection.

I've just been told that if it does get an infection, then the infection could spread through the tank, and it would be best to see the little fella off sooner rather than risk it.

bit dubious myself, but I never thought about the possible infection spreading around.

Setup a another tank if you have one and make it a kinda of Hospital/care home for fish, not fair on the poor little sod having to fend attackers off when it has just the 1 eye.
