Well just an updated of my fry, well young fish now. There are only 9 left now , but the remaining are growing fast. All but 2 are 2.5cm (1") .

Now they are starting to get there go faster stripes

Edit:OPPPSS Allmost forgot to mention they are all males

Yes sylvia, unfortunatly they all look males ........................................ I just wish 1 was a female.

This might have been caused by hormaones they put in fish...because males sell ten times better so they would one more in a spawn. Good Luck

Hormones shouldn't effect the sex of fry but who knows.
Anyway, that gives you an excuse to breed more

Your fry are looking good! You should be proud of yourself for even having 9 of them left. They are not easy to raise, even under the best of circumstances. It's unusual that anyone does as well as you have with them.

I can't say this is true for gouramis, butI know there are many fish who's sex is determined by the PH the fry were raised in. Generally, the lower the PH the larger the numbers of males

Seen and your Dwarf neons have bred, I was wondering if you could help me.

I have two. 1 male. 1 female. Or so i'm told. The 'Male' has stripes and the 'female' is plain, Is this right?

Here's a photo, Sorry it's not an excellent one but anyways. The 'Female' is far left with no stripes.

Yes, females are plain coloured, usually brownish if i remember right.

In some fish (and amphibians, insects, birds and reptiles) the gender of the offspring is determined by the ambient temperature during incubation. Only in mammals is gender determined solely on genetics.
