Need to feed a constipated fish a pea need helpNOW

Oh I see why he's not eating it. I fed him yesterday. So should I just put him back in his tank and wait for two days then?

Should I lower the water level so he can get to the sirface easier? Or could I put him in a holding container that hangs on the inside of the tank and put the container in my 10g so he can have some heat?

Does he look stressed as he sounds it with the heavy breathing, nothing worse when you feel bloated and can't go to the toilet, i would get the cod liver oil, also you could try an epson salt bath to help releive him one tablespoon to the gal.

I only have aquarium salt. And would he be ok till tommorow because that would be the earliest time I could get it. And what about lowering the water level or puting him in a holding container that would hang on the inside of the tank with heat?

I'm not sure but I would think you should be able to get cod liver oil at the drug store or a health food store. I've never tried that before but Wilder knows way more about treating fish than I ever will so it will most likely work. The hard part will be getting it in him.

For the time being, you may want to move him to a small container that doesn't have gravel so he can easily find the pea on the bottom. I would try something like a small bowl or jar. Just make sure the water level is down far enough that he can't jump out or that you have a cover on it (air holes of course). After all, they live in the tiny cups for who knows how long. You're only going to have him in there for a couple days. You will just need to keep a check on the water parameters and change water daily since it isn't filtered (will also probably want to add a drop or 2 of ammonia to the tank to keep the bacteria on the filter fed while he isn't in there). The only potential problem there is the water temp since you can't heat it. He should be fine though as most people don't heat their betta tanks/bowls anyway.

One other thing, the peas will be much easier for him to eat if they are the texture of baby food, not firm like regular food.
