Need Some Plant Advice (amazon Swords)

Ok so my main tank has 2 Amazon Swords and 2 Aponogetons growing in it. Its a 5 Gallon with a 15watt florescent bulb in it. I currently give my tank API Leaf Zone once a week. The issue is that now my amazon swords are starting to die and I now have brown algea growing on parts of my tank. Its not that bad of an algae problem at this time. What can I do to improve my tank that is relatively cheap at this time? Once I get my new 30+ Gallon I plan to get a Co2 system but prefer to avoid for my 5 Gallons.

brown algae (diatoms) is common in new setups.

when you say they are dying, can you give any other onfo (yellow leaves, pinholes etc) there is a defficiency chart in my sig, look in there and see what it is. You may need some roots tabs.
