i re-homed my geos and blue acara as they were bullying and stressing my green sev. i have now since lost the green severum to some weird ilness ( which really cheesed me off) and then after that my senegal bichir got out the top of the tank through were the filter pipes are fed in and i found him dead when i went to feed them.so now the 100g is looking a tad bare all i have left is

vinny my red spotted sev
1 featherfin synodontis ( soon to be sold)
6 tiger barbs 4 rosy barbs
1 firemouth
1 red tailede black shark
2 kribs
13 corys
1 golden nugget

im quite tempted to get a sajica , had thought about a nic but read they spend most of their time at the bottom and im already well stocked on bottom dwellers , im looking for something gorgeous and a bit different, any suggestions?

I have found my Chocolate Cichlid to stay predominantly towards the top of the tank, always looking for food on the water surface. Not exactly gorgeous though imo.

i agree i do generally like chocolate cichlids but im after something more attractively marked. also ideally ( tho not critical) id like adult size to be a bit smaller than a sev

Oh Mark, sorry to hear you lost him and the bichir, what happened to the knife fish?

I would say, something along the lines of Rainbow cichlid, Festivum or heck, another Sev, I just got two more myself, no matter what I try, nothing comes close to them for me.

im trying to avoid another sev but im the same as you i love em toooooo much lol. maybe a nice rotkeilthe glass knife fish i thought i listed lol? i may or may not keep that , ideally wants to be in a group , i did buy 3 but the 1 ive got killed the other 2 .

Have you thought about maybe some geophagus pindare (small, more peaceful than suri's) or another aequidens species? Obviously not rivulatus but like Wills has, a Diadema?

Usually speaking knnife fish prefer to be solo fish, to my knowledge anyway, maybe thats why it killed the other two.

mark what about something like Cryptoheros sajica... I have a chocolate and love it to bits, just like an oscar but more

peaceful<loves being stroked and sucking your finger  and looks stunning changing colour every two mins, its like

having more than one fish according to my wife....

also another preference of mine Hoplarchus psittacus True Parrot,

Not sure temp wise, there supposed to be quite placid, They get to be 12" depends what you plan to keep them with and tank size...

For a 100g long term you are already at your limit...but as a grow out, there is tons of stuff you could add :)

no offence matee but you wanna see over stocked look at your sig same size tank as me and you got 3 sevs . nuff said

http://www.lem.net/alf/aeq.htm <---- good site if you want to find a nice rare acara good pics as well.

How about going for Red Head Tapaojo Geos? A lot of people keep Geos in groups to spread aggression and I believe this is most natural for them so going for the smaller species with larger numbers should work better than your past experience.

Only "top dwelling" cichlids I can think of are angels? Have you thought about other species of fish, for example golden wonder killi.
