Need Some Fishy Suggestions!

as already mentioned apistogramma spp. and bolivian rams. otherwise perhaps some true freshwater gobies (but u say ur lfs are no good so...)

Nope, no otos. I don't want sensitive fish. Plus, they're bottom dwellers.

Misconception actually. They go pretty much everywhere. I had a shoal of 5 in my 60L with a pair of Opaline Gourami's and they swam freely around the tank. Albeit short distances to find somewhere to munch on...but the fact is they swim freely in all areas of the tank. The one place they never occupied was the water surface - but does that really matter?

Ah, well I take back the bottom dwellers comment then, But they're still sensitive fish so, still not an option. MAYBE some time down the road I'll give them a go, but not right now.

Hmm, We had a bumblebee goby for quite a long time in the tank before. I loved that fish so much, but boy was it a pain in the butt to feed. Are all gobies like that?
I don't think I've ever seen any other ones that weren't brackish.

Gold barbs, oo those are a maybe. Specially if they're anything like the tiger barbs we have, well, minus the aggression heh.

I am def going to have to keep my eye out for an apistogramma. Every time I see it mentioned, it's making me want one more and more lol. I'll have to do some more research on them.

People may say otherwise but in my opinion i wouldnt keep an Appisto with tiger barbs, due to the bouyant fashion in which the tigers "play". Play being the difinitive word lol

yes but gold barbs are not tiger barbs lol mine have never gotten sick no matter what happened to them and thy kept their cool over a 2600+ mile road trip so they are pretty hardy a school would go very very nicely with your tank, especially if its planted.

For the record, my Honey Gouramis will eat off the floor. and they're peaceful. and quite common. and not Platys lol.

Oh no, I meant how my tiger barbs are little piglets. They are greedy when it comes to food That's what I meant by saying if they're anything like tiger barbs

And my tigers are in my 125gal tank. I wouldn't even dream of putting tiger barbs in to a tank as small as 29gallons. Not after seeing how active they are. AND how many you have to keep to keep the peace between them

oh, yes golds are very much pigs and will eat anything and everything, except plants of course

they usually get about 2", ive seen 2" and 5" alike so it doesnt really matter as there are a 3 species just make sure to get the small one, the bigger ones tend to have a little white on them.
