I am going with a friend of the family to my lps to get some fish for his tank and I need to get fish for my 55g and 10g and we are going out to eat after we put his fish in his tank so I was wondering if the fish I bought for my tanks would be ok if I just left them in the bag floating in his tank to keep them warm while we go out? We should only be gone a couple hours before I can take them to my house to put in my tanks. So should I ask the lps to put more air than water in bags or what? Please I need a quick answer as I'll be leaving soon.

It quite along time but if you switch the tank light off it should be ok.

Hi. Make sure there is like two thirds air, and one third water in the bag when they bag them at the store. They should be ok floating in your friends tank. I have transported fish in bags for 3 hours before. Ideally you should keep the time in a closed bag as short as possible, but you already know that.

Thanks guys, I got the angelfish but now have a question about one of them, one of them seems to be shaking back and fowards should I take that angelfish and put it in my long 20g for quarentine?

What do you mean shaking back and foward? My angelfish swim in very odd ways and are really amusing. Sometimes the swimm nose down, on the side, backward. They are amazingly agile. Once i swear i saw it do a cartwheel.

Edit: if your long tank is cycled, i'd say put them in there. People say quarantine all new fish and give 'em a dose of methelyne blue any way. I'd say just monitor their behavior. It's probably nothing.

perhaps it's just really stressed? was it doing it in the store? if it wasnt id guess stress but dont take my judgement to heart im usually wrong

I mean just like shaking, the other angelfish aren't doing it, he's the only one.

Was it doing that in the store? If not, like CBTF said, its probably just stress. Give him some time to settle in.

I couldn't tell, its top fin is also bent unlike the others where there's is straight.
