hiya, iv had a topic posted in emergencys and all info is on there, my fish all seem 2 be staying at the top of the tank at mo & was wondering how 2 get more oxygen into the water, i am over stocked i already know that but need some advice 4 now??? Tank is reckford 96 only got filter ect that came with it! Any help appreciated!

wc wc wc=water changes do around 1/4 of the tank size....
add a bubble wall which is a pump with the usually blue airstones
how big is this tank litres / actual tank size / most important inhabitants

what you realy need is a air-pump and a air-stone

what you realy need is a air-pump and a air-stone. if you want help on how to install this stuff which is very easy go to this place

yes a airstone might help a little but you need to do a waterchange.....

this is important....straight away......

and tank size with fishes to see how bad it could be because some fishs are worse than others with bad water

Iv been doin 30% water change everyday as thought i had fin rot, not so sure now as after re homing a nippy barb all seems ok! Tank is 80litres 38cm high, 30cm wide, 80cm long most important fishes red tailed black shark 2 odessa barbs 2 black platy 4guppys 2 sunset platy, dont know anything bout bubble walls how much do they cost ect n will it b a good idea 2 invest?

If you really wnt to add oxygen to a tank then an air stone is not the best piece of equipment.

The bubbles are not in the water long enough to have any appreciable amount of gas dissolve into the water. When the bubbles hit the surface they do not cause a great amount of surface agitation.

Far better is to have a pump or filter outlet aimed at the surface, this will create far more surface agitation. The more ideal way is to have water falling into the tank from a pump or outlet, though this is not always possible and can be somewhat noisy.

it's not only bubble walls, there are air-stones which look like little blue stones that you connet with the air-pump useing a hose.

PS; your tank is a 21 US gallons.

MY pump heater filter thing has a tube comin out of it which we have pointed upwards so the water does fall back into the tank, it makes bubbles on the surface?

it says all the story was posted in the emergencys section

No the rtbs isnt bothered by anything thats goin on, he my 5 lined barb, & 2 red serpae tetras r all carryin on as normal??? Du think im bein paronoid?
 sunset platy, black platy guppys & all the fish i was given n dont know wat they r all at surface!!

if the filter breaks the water surface then the tank should be perfectly well oxygenated.

however high levels of ammonia and nitrite can cause long term damage to a fish's respiratory system, leaving them 'gasping' at the top of the tank for air even though there's plenty in the water. unfortunately it's not reversible and may well kill your fish eventually. this is one of the possible consequences of cycling with fish if you don't do it right.

not 100% sure that is what's happened but it's a possibility

so sorry yazan didnt pay attention to that bit...what is the problem anyhow om my gosh ive asked again shot me quick do please please forgive me :hyper:

you might be paranoid....guppys n platys like to hang around near the top.....are the fish gasping at the surface?
soz yaz if its in other section but iam also busy doing other things :good:

Hello spoke 2 u the other day, u suggested getting API master test kit which iv ordered as usin test strips that dont test 4 ammonia, i dont think they r gasping but dont know wat that looks like?? sorry im so useless !! Im doin water changes every day 30% just so worried as i put so many fish in so quick!!
