gasping at the surface usually looks like the fish is just under the waters suface with nose pooking out litrally gulping for fresh air your not useless just new to the hobby.....if u were useless you wouldnt be on here would you....dont let people sarky comments get to you because were mostly all here to try to help

Hello spoke 2 u the other day, u suggested getting API master test kit which iv ordered as usin test strips that dont test 4 ammonia, i dont think they r gasping but dont know wat that looks like?? sorry im so useless !! Im doin water changes every day 30% just so worried as i put so many fish in so quick!!

as nelly said, your not useless your in the right place for help and doing all the right things so that makes you a good fishkeeper in my book. just made an easy mistake and one that plenty of us made too..... trust me you shoulda seen my first tank

just keep it up with the water changes, make sure there's as much surface agitation as possible and try not to panic, once the cycle's done then you can work out if there's any more lasting problems

Oh bless u, i am very new 2 hobby, it was my parters idea 2 get the tank but as he works full time the responibility has fallen onto me & u prob cudnt find a less fishy person than me hehe, they are not pokin out or gulping air so worrying bout nothing again, can u direct me 2 somewhere i can c wat fin rot looks like as thought we had it but not sure now, its getting no worse & no red streaks iv seen mentioned?
