Last weekend we bought 4 small catfish at Petco but don't know what kind they are. There wasn't a sign on the tank and they were scattered among several tanks. We bought them to eat the algae in our 240-gallon tank.

Here is a description: right now they're about 1" long, very slim, gray and have a black horizontal stripe on the body, the bottom of the fish is white and they attach themselves to the glass.

Does anyone have any ideas on what this could be? -_-

Thanks.

Sounds like an oto to me or Otocinclus affinis.

I would like to say that you should have a lot of bogwood in your tank, algae, and no fish big enough to eat them (grow to 2 inch). I would also advise on buying another bunch of about 6 atleast. Reason being is they are schooling and you have a nice large tank so you could get a lot. Also make lots of hiding places (small and big ones) so when threatend they can retreat to a cave of their choice.
