im buying a 55UK gal tank in a few weeks, i want to start gathering bits and pieces early, including, rocks, sand, filtration, lights, and i need ideas on the fish i may get.
now, i dont want a fish that gets too big, something small like erm.... some yellow labs and some other colorful types.

i dont know much about these type of fish but i am learning :D, i know that i should over stock the tank slighty to reduce the aggression between the fish, i know that they like alot of places to go in, like pots and other things, but what i dont really know is, what fish i should avoid getting, what filter i should get and how many fish i can have in the tank, it will be strictly mbuna only, no other fish :)

im hoping someone could help me here, i know that there are alot of people on here that have mbuna tanks, and they look great, i just need some info.

thanks :D

Not trying to be a jerk at all, but just read around, you have plenty of time, there is SO much to learn before you can really do anything. Just be patient and always do your research, think of more specific questions and we will help you out! :good:

Your best bet is to do some research into Mbuna that you like and post your suggestions here for some good advice on compatibility etc.

Good tankmates for yellow labs are Pseudotropheus Acei, Iodotropheus Sperengerae, Pseudotropheus Saulosi. Other slightly more risky options would be Maylandia Callainos, Metriaclima Estherae, Melanochromis Johanni and Pseudotropheus Socolofi.

There are many other possible species but all of the above should be readily available from your LFS, i've seen so many people find a species they really like on google only to discover that they can't get hold of them anywhere.
