Found this little guy mixed in with the ghost shrimp today and got him for free because he's something my LFS doesn't normally carry. I believe he'd a darter of some kind, but I'm not sure of the species. Anybody know? :)
Sorry for the crappy pics, my cam is stuck in macro mode with flash on.

I would say almost certainly a species of Etheostoma, possibly Etheostoma Microperca or Etheostoma Fusiforme (I have seen a green morph of this species).

Looks like Etheostoma blennioides to me

Whatever it is , I like it .
with Ghost shrimp [ I read some of these come from Florida / wild / farmed ] , could be [ most likely ] some kind of fish native to northamerica , looks like a darter . :dunno:

Didn't you also get some kind of Sunfish months back ?

Aww  No idea on ID but with all you people getting really groovy fish in batches of ghost shrimp, I think I should look for somehwere that sells them

Yeah, those were in with a shipment of goldfish at Walmart :dunno:
I've also gotten pencil fish with ghost shrimp before. I'm hoping for another darter in their next shipment :D

Judging by Google, Etheostoma fusiforme is the closest match suggested so far. I'll try to get some better pics of it later

A couple of better pics... The little guy came out of hiding and ate today ^_^

Front half is hidden, but it's a better view of the tail

It still looks like fusiforme the most to me, but it needs some fattening up so I guess time will tell :)

Do you guys go fishing for tropical fish or buy them? Here in England there is probaly less supply!

I don't think the fish is tropical  , sometimes native species end up in shops accidentally .

I don't think that fish is tropical either i was searching for it and found it likes temperatures at around 60 degrees Farenheit

Yeah, it's a US native. It's in an unheated tank, but since we have central air and heat ~75 degrees F is the coldest it's going to get without a chiller... and sorry, I'm not buying a chiller for one fish *lol*
