NEED HELP!!!

Can some on please help me identify my fish I was given it with the tank it is in. And he told me it was an African cichlids. But now I have been told it may not be. PLEASE HELP ME

Someone else on another post was telling me he did not think it was. But the guy I got it from has hundreds of them I was not sure just wanted to check. But thanks . Do you know what is best to mix with them?

I’ll do some more digging for you. Where did you get the tank? If your got it from a friend, text him and ask where he got it and ask if he knows what it is. If you don’t know his phone number, I’ll do some research for you.

He is a breader and he has like 15 tanks and a lot of fish I checked with him last night and he is positive it is an African. Sooo confused ‍ ‍

Maybe it is an African cichlid of some sort.
There was another picture posted in the other thread which led me to believe it may possibly be a very pale jack Dempsey. But it's so hard to tell with the pictures and his current color. The head shape to me looks more like a jack Dempsey than any sort of African that I know of.

What color are his markings on the side?

I’ve been doing some research and I haven’t found anything that looks like your fish. I’m starting to think it’s not an African Cichlid. I’ll keep doing research to find out what your fish is.

Not a Jack Dempsey, no spots.
