set up my feamle tank yesterday and put all the girls together

i fed them with betta pellets this morning, i figured 8 girls i would put in 16 pellets

well my CT girl gobbled down at least 10 ,she got to the point where she was trying to get them in when her mouth was full

now shes swimming round the top of the tank with her tummy fit to burst and her mouth wont close because there is still pellets in there.

what should i do, im guessing she will be like this every feed time

i did poke the food away from her but she was having none of it

helppppppppppppppppp

when i feed pellets to my girls i grap a small pinch and sprinkle over the surface in a line that way they are more spread out and one fish can gobble the lot. I have found that CT's are more piggy than any of the others lol

my ct do that too. i too put the food in a line and wait for them to eat it all the after all the pelletsd are consumes i put ion a fwe more kinda like a spot on ither side of the tank, she will get full eventually and stop feeding them once the others are no longer interseted in the food. i also feed them frozen blood worms a few times a week, thaw in somewater then i pour the whole cup in ,, yes over feeding by alot, i wait till they have had their fill then i use a gravel vac to suck the remaining off the floor and plants,, i usually do a 25 per water change then,, about 3 times a week, then i feed them the cooked peas once a wek to help with their poopin :p

I also had a CT girl that did that. I only had two other female bettas in the tank at the time, and the other fish were more shy, so the CT would gobble up all the food and wind up looking like a little blimp. I tried spreading the food and it didn't seem to work much, so finally I resorted to netting her right before feeding time (keeping her in the water, but confined to a net) so everyone else could get fed and she didn't... explode. By the time she finally got down to normal size (I almost completely fasted her for a week) I had moved a couple more females in there and that helped a lot. Now I have a bunch of girls in there and spreading the food does work well, although she's still always the fattest in the end.

thanks for all your replys

i put her in a breeding trap and she did spit 5 out eventually but shes still really huge.

but at least she can close her mouth again :look:

think i will try netting her at feed time and feed the others first.

shes a greedy begger
