I'm wanting to plant my tank and enjoy all the benefits of having a planted aquarium.
Sorry for all of thr questions you're about to leave, I'm not experienced at all in the planted aquarium category -_-

I've been recommended to plant with such plants such as types of Anubias, Java Ferns, and possibly Java Moss, since I have South American Cichlids in my tank.
I currently have a Blood Parrot, a Severum, and a Pleco.

I wanted to maybe create the look of having a 'carpet' on the bottom of my aquarium, hence the Java Moss, maybe a type of hairgrass such as crystalwort (riccia fluitans), but i'm not sure if this would be the best option?
or maybe there is another sort of plant that will create this effect...

Also, what about plants that would add some color,
I like the red accents of some plants such as Scarlet Temple, Red Ludwigia, etc.
Are these plants that could last in with my cichlids? or are they harder to take care of..

What about amazon swords, or some water lily plants?

My fish don't really move gravel around or uproot my fake plants, and they don't seem very interested in trying to.
Sometimes my Sev will ram a certain plant if he gets irritated that it's in his way, but that's about it.

Mainly, my question..
What would you recommend as foreground, midground, and background plants that would make a nice, appealing setup in my aquarium?

I have a 90 US gallon, by the way.
Any help would be appreciated. :good:
