Hey all. I really can't decide on which tank to get next week. I was just going to buy the Juwel Rio 400 which has 2 x 36w tubes. but then my Dad just came over for dinner and while looking through the Juwel Catalog he mentioned he thought the Vision would be better as it had 4 x36w tubes, 50L more than the Rio and the bow front would make viewing the fish better.

do Bow front tanks really give you a better view? are they harder to clean? I phoned my mate who used to own his own fish shop and asked him what he would do. He said don't get the Vision as they look Chavvy!!! never heard that one before!!

anyway what are your thoughts?

cheers

Paul

i have the 400 but i do prefer the vision it makes the fish stand out ,,, i might get a vision too ,, lol

I have the Vision 260 and they vision tanks do look really stunning when they are set up. :good:

Mind, I know nothing about UK tanks, but you've got with the Vision 119g (about) and 144W of bulbs, giving you about 1.2 WPG, not too shabby for such a large tank. I always gravitate to what will give me better plants, and the vision is it, without too much tweaking you can grow some nice things.

Warmest,

llj :)

i don't know what the tanks look like or what the specs are. i don't even know what 400 or 450 litres is in gallons. but i do know that 450 is more than 400 so that would make it bigger.

*i love that basic math concepts are universal*

OK this is the Vision 450

and this is the Rio 400

The two tanks are the same length, width and hight but the vision is bowed out at the front which gives it the extra 50ltrs.

I was going to buy a vision but I found a 900ltr tank.

OK

450 ltr =

US Gallons = 118.877
UK Gallons = 98.98

yes i will be buying brand new, i have to tell the shop by wednesday morning and i still can't decide.

I know most of you are saying the vision but i'm worried about the view of the fish, will it have a magnifiying effect? -_-

I think the lighting and extra space would be good though. I just think the standard tank shape "looks smart"

Keep the replies coming.....

Cheers

Paul

Get the vision. I've got a 260 vision, it's no harder to clean and doesn't distort the fish with the curve, possibly because the curved bit is relatively gradual.
With different light tube you could mix light spectrums better, e.g. blue daylight or sunlight effect or whatever.
AND, it's bigger without taking up much more space.
However, I found the visions were more expensive because of the curved glass (apparantly this is not as easy to manufacture). IMO worth it as you'll have the tank for years (hopefully!).

i have a vision 450 they are nice tanks :good: i dont rate the filter on them tho :(
in the shop you are getting it from how much are vision 450s?

... but then, if you like the rio more, have that one!

I can't say how much as my mate is doing me a deal
;)

lets just say i have the choice of both with stands at a very good price :good:

It would help if i could see the vision filled up with fish in but i've been round every fish shop in my area and no-one has a demo tank
