Need Fish For A Works Tank....

Its basically going to be next to an entrance way of a pub.

So I want fish that aren't going to be scared easily, but also look nice.

It would have to be a community tank aswell and include some ghost shrimps.

Its going to be about 50litres so it can't be big fish either.

What about platies? They come in some great, eye catching colours and are nice active fish. Also very easy to care for

I sincerely hope it's a peaceful pub! for obvious reasons being near a doorway is a concern to me also as this is where most fracas happen.
For a Pub environment I personally wouldn't go for your everyday community aquarium fishies preferring instead to go with a large character type fish most likely a large Cichlid deep bodied type (not a pike type) and quite possibly the meaner looking the better. Why you ask. Well the locals will get attached to it, and word will spread, folks will be saying things like "Hey have you been down the Dog and Gun lately and seen that massive great fish they have in there" This may pull in more punters and the alcohol consumption level may increase So I say ditch the 50ltr and go bigger, much bigger

Indeed. Get a fish with a TON of personality! Somehow, people adore fish with personality. They'll be coming in just for that!

Is this tank going to be a located near an entrance where people could possibly be smoking? Smoking and fish don't mix!
Fishless cycling? Yes?
Will the tank be maintained with weekly water changes/tests ect?
Go with some hardy fish first like red eye tetras and once cycled larger sized tetras would be good.

For a display tank in a business,isn't 50 litres hardly worth bothering about?What's that,under 10g?You aren't going to get much in there that's going to be that exciting unless you're actually into fish.

For small tanks, tiger barbs and gourami would look impressive enough (maybe some kuhli loaches too). Increase size a little (120L+) and you could add a red tail black shark and go with yoyo or polkadot loaches instead of the kuhlis.

This sort of set-up would go down well in a Doctors or Dentist surgery foyer but..........
If your going go with the 50ltr Community Aquaria for a pub you might as well just stick Beer Mats on top of it as all the punters will want to do is use it as a beer shelf.
You need to go bigger with bigger fish (preferably at eye level) to make a real impression....Have another word with the Landlord.
A shoal of Red-bellied Piranha (Pygocentrus nattereri) would have the desired effect. The punters would really be talking about those in their local.
