hi everyone i was wondering which kind of fish to get a frontosa or a flowerhorn because i was planning on raising one of them up and my pet guy will buy it back from me for more money he said which do you think i should get

beter off to get a flowerhorn, that is if you have a tank over 90 gallons, but like said already if your into fishkeeping just for money you should be mowning lawns or looking for a acctual job, (sorry if that sounded harsh)

im not in for the money i want everyones oppinion on which one is better thats all i know you dont make any money on fish dont worry

 sorry about that, i dont know what i was thinking at the time, i read in your other post you have a 150gallon, you could get a nice colony of frontosa, you could get away with atleast 7-10 adults i believe, and if you were going to try to breed them its best to get wild caught ones, so you get f-1 fry (first generation) and fetch a much higher price, i also read in your other post that the fronts you have there are $19 a piece, my lfs some times had wild caught burundi for $75cnd each, lots of lfs will buy juvi frontosa for a good price, good luck with your fish :good:

I had 6 in a 125 usg: 2 males and 4 females. Once they reached maturity the dominat male and his girls were slowy tearing apart the subdominant male and one of the 4 girls. I removed the sub male. They all went after his girls and beat one badly. I removed her and the 4 are doing well now. Males have been know to outright kill the female in breeding. They are an aggressive and competitive fish and can get to 12" w/o the tail. The females are also aggressive. They would corner and attack the sub female until she was in tatters.

I was told that I would need 180 usg for my 6 fronts at maturity by members of a Cichlid forum. I tried to get by with a 125. The water was fine for the water quality, but the aggressive nature of the fish precluded keeping them permanently in that size tank.

Exactly what I was warned of has happened.
