64 ltr .Tank has been up and running now for 5 weeks , all I have in it are 2dwarf gouramis , 5 fancy guppies and a Pleco . Can anyone tell me what other fish would be good to go with these ? I have a couple of live plants to if that makes any difference , thanx .

Hi, You say your tank has been "up and running" for 5 weeks... Did You cycle the tank/filter? If so how Did you cycle and what are your readings? As in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate? Also what is your water ph level and tank dimensions? If you were to give us the answers to these questions then we (others forum members and I) can advise you further :)

Don't mean for this to sound harsh in anyway but I can't see a plec working in a tank as small as a 64 litre :(

Even the smaller type like bristlenose plecs get to around 5 inches which would be a tad big for that tank. Other types like common plecs and sailfin plecs get to around 2 feet in length. So definitely a no go. Do you know what type you have?

Look dont freak about the chemistry of your tank. It sounds like you may be stocking it a little to fast. You have plants thats great, but what you need is a power filter with a bio wheel. So leave the tank alone for atleast a month let the water get use to having so many fish in it, if you add fish to quickly you will have chemistry problems. When you do start adding fish do it one at a time once a week give the microbs in the water time to adjust to the added waste. Inch of fish per gallon and put as many plants in there as you can fit. Id have to agree with the last post for your community

hmmm, i see some flaws here.

For one, be freaked about your water chemistry. Your water chemistry is going to determine if your fish swim healthy or die. You need to monitor your ammonia and nitrites especially. If they get to be above 0.25 you need to so a water change. Do you have a test kit?

It is great that plants are there, but a biowheel isn't fully necessary. Any filter will do as long as it is suited for the tank. Biowheels are great though, but not necessary.

Do not just "leave the tank alone." You need to monitor your water at least weekly, or if you find that you have ammonia and nitrites, you need to monitor it daily.

Inch of fish per gallon is a myth. Really it depends on the dimensions of your tank. And if you go by the inch per gallon rule, it is actually one inch per of fish per gallon pertaining to fish up to an adult size of 3 inches. Even still, this math depends on the actual dimensions of the tank.
