That may possibly be because of dirty pipes rather than different pipes, you dont realise just how much performance you loose by debris building up inside the pipes. I cleaned my eheim pipes only after just 3 months of running and the difference afterwards was unbelievable.

That is quite a high possibility. But never the less the fluval pipes have always seem floored to me why make a pipe that have places for rubbish to build up lol
