hi so if you have seen any of my other posts you'll see where im at at the moment.
i have a 170l tank with a sand substrate, quite a few live plants and a couple caves.
i'll post a pic when i get home.
the current stocking is
5 dwarf chain loaches.
6 hengelli rasboras
2 german blue rams
and a load of MTS
so i was wondering where i could progress from here.
whether you think my current stocking is suitable or how to adjust.
thanks in advance :)

I think you should up the numbers of the fish as the the tank looks understocked
So i would look towards having
10 dwarf chain loach
15-20 hengelli rasbora
2 GBR

so you reckon instead of introducing a new species just to up the numbers?
here is my fts so you can see where i'm at

Wow your tank looks amazing I wish mine looked like that.

thanks a lot
means im slowly progressing
loads left to do planting wise and id love to hide the heater away
id love to see some pics of your tank :)

Have you considered an inline heater? they are relatively expensive compared to the regular stick on heaters but would tidy up if that's what you are looking to do...

I've no experience of this yet, I put my first canister filter on about a month ago and thinking of this as the next upgrade.

i have thought about the inline heater
but looking into it, they are apparently notorious for breaking more so than normal heaters, correct me if im wrong
i have since moved my heater behind some of the plants in the back corner so is now much more shrouded.
i'll have to post a new pic tonight if i have chance.

sorry it is a late reply, yeah it would be better to up there numbers as you would get a more natural looking display from your fish.  Also on hiding the heater  yeah its cheap and easy to buy a plant such as java fern and cover it

sounds good,
i'll have to wait til payday but then ill up the numbers
