After my routine water change I decided to take a rock out to free up some more space. After putting it in and out and asking my boyfriends opinion and then moving it back and holding it up and turning it around we decided against the rock. About 5-10 mins later I went to take the rock outside and I put it on the garden ledge only to find my bristlenose land on the leaves below! Being a typical woman I screamed and got very flustered thinking if I touched it my skin would burn her or something of the like  ....anyway I picked her up and ran as fast as my legs would take me back to the tank and dropped her back in. Ofcourse she is fine but my heart skipped about 10 beats  I honeslty didnt expect her there as she is always under the other rock and she camoflages so well! Anyway I noticed that she was very spikey and course in my hand (if you are wondering what bristlnose feel like because thats the first time if touched one :D)
Anyway thats my story :p

What a lucky BN! Hope she is doing ok still?

My bamboo shrimp has a habit of hiding in plant leaves so when I remove them for maintenance he crawls out after a few minutes of being dry. Very freaky as hes got lots of legs and big feelers

Yikes! Glad you found her okay.

I had a similar experience the other day. I was counting the fish in my mom's classroom tank the other day and couldn't find one of the YoYo Loaches. I found one hiding in the castle, but couldn't find the other one. I decided to take the castle out so he couldn't dash back into the castle while I was looking elsewhere. Looked all over the rest of the tank, couldn't find him. Looked in the castle (which had now been out of the water for a minute or two) and saw a little YoYo nose and two eyes staring at me  I quickly put the castle back in the water, thus putting an end to his "out of water experience". Silly little YoYo. I want some for my tank now :fun:

Ha ha....reminds me of one time I was rearranging the tank....it was 3am (don't ask)....and I thought it would be good insomnia therapy....I had my hand in there....moving things around....took it out....went to wipe my hands on a towel...when I realised my male bnose had attached himself to my arm....he must have been trying to eat the "hair algae) :p

ANyway....I screamed and panicked....threw him back in the tank.....the BF woke up calling me a nutcase and the next day the neighbours came over to see if I am OK!!

hahaha chooklet I would have done the same thing!
But what I dont understand is why she didnt just fall off when I was taking the rock in and out and balancing it on the edge of the fish tank, she had to come off in the garden!
Yeah she is fine now, I checked her over when she came out to graze but im lucky I saw her! I only recently lost my male bristlenose I would have been devasted if I lost her as well! :-(

One of my clown loaches had the same experience! It's doing well, thankfully, and I am way more careful when I do a little rearranging.
