Just out of interest, what do you do with fish that are aggressive to other fish? I have a Sunset Platy (Dave) who's now in isolation for a couple of days.

I did this with Mad Max I, when she was alive. After she came out of isolation she was as nice as pie and went on to give birth a couple of times before she died.

Some may say that this is stressful for the fish. IMO this the equivalent of the naughty step! :p

Probably better asking this question in the livebearers section, what the ratio to males livebearers to females.

we used to isolate the gouramis we had when they were being aggressive towards the other fish, not only for the sake of not stressing out the peaceful fish in the tank that were being bullied, but also because it was stressful to us watching the big mean gourami chase the other fish around and around. and yea they were much nicer once they were re-introduced to the tank.. but only for a little while :grr: had to get rid of them in the end... :/

kat :)

TBH I can't imagine a male platy being too agressive :S If I find one fish is particulaly bullying another, I demolish their territory so they no longer feel lik the king of the tank. If that fails then I try once more before romving them from that tank all togther.

There are only 2 male platies in the tank, Dave and Eric. Eric is no problem whatsoever, but Dave is a bit of a school ground bully!

I've let him out of isolation and he seems to be behaving......... for now!
