if i were to have myself a heavily planted fishless tank and filled it with the old tank water from a water change, would this "re-new" the water making it usable for the tank? i gather that water changes are to reduce nitrAte and plants absorb that in massive amounts. i just think that 4 gallons of water per week for my small tank only just tipped away isn't very conservational! anyone have any scope on this or shall we experiment?!?!

Hello ...

Interestingly ... I was thinking of this lately ... I was reading about growing macro algae in a seperate tank and using this as a phosphate filter ... I can't think of anything in the water that would be bad for the planted tank ... Can anyone ?? ... keep in mind plant nutrients can be toxic at a certain point ... and too much may give you algae problems ... so get your test kits out.

Good Day ... B)
