I've got a fully matured 25L (6gal) tank waiting for some fishies!

I was thinking 3 pygmy cories and maybe some rasboras? They need to be nice peaceful fish and easy to look after, but i don't mind what they look like :)

Yes, there's some species of micro rasbora that people have mentioned a lot here in our section. I think they look orangeish red (mostly red) with a couple of largish markings like a spot and a stipe. I'm sure someone will come along who remembers the name or has them. I'll be sure to post again if I remember it.

Also I wonder how large the little cherry barbs get.. whether a pair would be too large, not sure.

There are 3 types of pygmy cories, they are a great choice.

I think i've seen the micro rasboras at LFS, they're a little less than 1 inch long. How many need to be together - do they school?
Thanks for the quick reply :)

Pygmy corys do best in groups of 6.
In a 6g you could go for
6 pygmy corys
6 ember tetra or galaxy rasbora

or

6 pygmy corys
1 male betta or honey gourami

Cherry barbs will get to just over 1" and need to be in groups of 4+ so a pair wouldnt do to well.

Would 4 pygmy cories be ok? The tank is pretty tall and i'm not sure it has enough floor area for 6 (although they group so they could be ok)

It sounds like a lot of fish for such a small tank, i'm terrified of overstocking :S

I was considering endlers, but they're not at my LFS. Any other common nano species?

What are the dimensions. IMHO Pygmy corys do alot better in bigger groups evan more than other corys.
The pygmy corys, ember tetra and galaxy rasbora all max out at under 1" so they should be fine.
Endlers are good for small tanks.
you could have
cherry shrimp
snails
ember tetra
galaxy rasbora
endlers
sparkling gourami
honey gourami
male betta
pygmy corys
guppies

All of them will work in 6g tank but obviously not all at ones.

W40cm x D25cm x H45cm

LFS has no pygmy cories ATM and i didn't have time to check the other one ><

I saw some harlequin tetras at about 2cm - is this full size? Also some tiny orange fish which the assistant couldn't name. She said they looked like barbs but i can't find them online

There are lots of very small fish to choose from Luzi. I have some Heterandria formosa at under an inch each, some Girardinus metallicus, black chins, at around an inch each, golden teddies, Xenophallus umbratilis at about an inch each. Those are just a few of the small livebearers I have in my own tanks. A bit larger are endlers, which I also keep but do not consider good nanotank candidates. There are bound to be just as many egg laying micro fish but I am not as familiar with them.
Teddies are what I have for an avatar. Look off to the left.
Black chins look like this gathered around a small opening in my brine shrimp hatchery.

These are a male and a female heterandria, the pictures are a bit grainy because I blew them up so much.

There re lots of small fish that i'd love to have but my LFS (P@H) just doesn't stock many

I saw honey gouramis and plenty of tetras today but no microrasboras or cories. I'll probably ask them to order some - they're the only fish i'm sure i want.

The orange fish looked a bit like the ember tetras but they had a black stripe down the middle and were a little thinner.
