defo not a pbass mate i would be over the moon if they where as i have just been giving a trio

nope i agree deffo not a p bass but shape etc is similar , so maybe from the same family?

not so sure it is a cichla now . closest match i can find is cichla piquiti but that has 5 bars and i can only see 4 on your fish.

I dont think its a red tail, they have a dark blue face and the (gorgous wish I never sold mine) its more similar to Astatotilapia latifasciata and a male with the red on the belly

He should have more yellow, but its probably the angle of the pic and he is settling in, gorgous looking fish, I had a male and female sp44 (impulse buy ) they were gorgous, little aggressive just chasing not biting.

Defo African, probably Malawi - Haplochromis sp. Haplochromis Latifasciatus or Haplochromis Sp44 (lake Victoria)It is a male (note the dummy egg spots on the anal fin)
There are many regional varieties of Hap, which make sit hard to ID, plus some have been re-catogorised I cannot say any more than haplochromis sp. Nice fish though

Check this site out http/malawicichlids.com/ Look up the 4-5 striped Haps section, also www.seriouslyfish.com/news.php - they have an article on Hap Latifasciatus, which may help with ID. - it's all in the markings - note the bands in relation to the dorsal fin.
