I've been trying to find that website that has photos of peoples entries for that award thing...anybody know the site I'm on about? (dont worry, not entering, just need some ideas).

While I'm here, anybody know any other sites with pictures of good planted tanks?

personaly i like this one - although the mound would be hard to keep: http://showcase.aquatic-gardeners.org/2003...y=0&vol=2&id=43

I'm not that keen on this one. Too bare for me. How do you think the mound is done? Just substrate? Cos surely you'd have problems with the substrate getting compact.

This one to me looks faaaaaaar bigger than a 26 gallon. Mine is a 23 US gallon tank. Do you think it really is? Or is it an illusion cos I notice he's using plants that have small leaves.

I'm going to try and redesign mine with a miniature affect in mind (small wood, small plants etc).

I love the bare substrate and I've been thinking of having the front left hand corner of my tank completely bare. With mabe foregroud plants at the back, with a build up of taller, bigger plants to the right (hiding all the equipement).

I love this. This is just amazing for a 10 gallon tank. Again he's used all small leafed plants. I'm sensing a pattern here.

oooh I love this with the 'path' down the middle. Everything looks so perfect though. Has he removed the equipment just for pictures? cos there are no inlets/outlets or anything. How do they keep the substrate so clean? It's like he's put fresh sand on top especially.

hmmm, im not too keen on those but the last one is nice. Beuty is in the eye of the beholder I suppose!

i think a lot can be achieved with small fish and plants on a dark background.

It keeps getting better every year. 2004 AGA Aquascaping Contest has some really good tanks. I looked at the medium entries (20-50g) and found some really nice ones that are more my style:

I like use of color and 3-dimensions to add clarity and depth.

That's my 20g. Not bad for only 6 months in the hobby if I do say so myself.
