Mystery Snails Are Really Mysterious

I have been keeping daily log of the snail behavior since I was told that one death can result in a big tragedy in the aquarium. So i have been keeping a daily log. Now i just don`t understand how to make out whether they are doing good and keep a check whether one snail is dead or just resting.

Help me out with some common indicators of stress or death for the snails.

Picking him up again and again will it not cause him stress?

Note: These guys have grown TWICE the size they were when i brought them.

If the shell door is closed that is usually a good indication that the snail is still alive and may be resting.
When you see the shell door open and no movement then pick him up and check.
If it's been dead for a day or two you may get a stream of snail snot pouring out as you pick it up!
If you are unsure the snail is dead or just resting pick it up and smell it.
You will know instantly if it's dead as there ain't nothing like the smell of a dead snail!

Apple Snails are funny things to watch, try not pick them up they dont like (they told me so ) If the die the will cause a major stink. Pitting in their shell and a white slimey discharge is a sign of stress, but if you leave them alone they should be fine?

Have your started going to the top of the then suddenly droping like a rock to the bottom?

i'd like to have an apple snail, but i don't like the egg clutches they deposit above the water. yuck

Yeah they are having a great time, going up and trying to float on the filter stream to reach a new sucking spot . They are getting HUGE

In the wild they will go to the surface and let the current take them away to new place then drop like stone and explore the new area, thats the reason why the try play in the filter stream in a tank

I love when my mystery snails streatch thier feelers out all the way, Probably one of the most gracefull fish to watch in my opinion, I love when they extend out of thier shel and twist around to grab somthing bhind them and climb over.
