Mysterious Deaths

if your PH doesn't drop, or stay down after it has been buffered, then you could have really hard water. It won't affect the fish but it would stop you being able to lower the PH.

the only other thing then is food. What sort of food do you feed them and were the angelfish fed the same thing the swordtail and platy were fed before they died?

Food:
I feed this in no particualr order :
Week 1: Spirulaina and Omega one flake
Week 2: Spirulina and TetraMin Color
Week 3: Spirulina and O.S.I. Vivid Color
Week 4: Spirulina and Nutrafin Max for Livebearers
Week 5: Spirulina and O.S.I. Angelfish Flake

And ofcourse the occasional Brine Shrimp! I feed the young fry a mixture of everything listed above, and i feed BBS daily. I just cant figure out why they died. Ohhh, yeha, i had a female guppy die today, She like pooped out her insides and then died. Dont know why. She had given birth recently, so who knows?

the food shouldn't be an issue.
takes us back to a disease of some sort. Any chance of a pic of the fish?

Dude, i've thrown them all away. If i have another die, i'll post a pic, but all i can say is, i havent seen anything wrong with them.

can you post a pic of the live fish. We might be able to spot something on it

i remember when in my tank.. fish just kept dieing. like one died one day.. couple days later another died.
but that has all stopped now.
is it in two different tanks they have been dieing?
has anyone sprayed something near it. like.. chemicals or something?
LMAO i would have no idea. im only 13, lol
hmm. im really not sure. sorry,
ox

Red Platy, about 2 weeks ago

i dont have any other pics of the affected fish. I did noitce something today, my bigger angel is more seclusive and wouldnt come up for food. I hope he dosent die!

^ Dude, dont worry about age, im only 14!

I had some fish die mysteriously on me when I first started ... the only thing I could come up with was that I mustn't have washed my hands enough and some chemicals from a shed I was building had got into the tank.

I hear that you should always make sure your net dries out in-between uses, maybe its an old wives tale, but I don't think it can harm.

do a partial water change (about 1/3) and gravel clean on the angelfish tank and see if it helps. Rinse the bucket out a few times and run the tap for a minute before collecting the water.
It may be there is copper leaching from your water pipes. This copper will be flushed out of the pipes if you leave the tap to run for a minute before collecting the water.
maybe add a carbon filter to the tanks and see if that helps. You can remove the carbon if you need to treat the fish for disease. If there are heavy metals or chemicals getting into the tank the carbon should absorb them and help reduce their impact on the fish.
Try to use Activated Carbon as it is more effective than normal carbon. Replace it after a couple of weeks and see if it makes any difference.

Don't clean the filter for a couple of weeks if you can help it. Obviously if it gets blocked up and needs a clean then do it but see how the fish do when the filter is only cleaned every 2-4 weeks.

My water change is due today anyway. I only clean the 20g filter weekly, not the other ones. I'll add what ever carbon i have.

Couldnt do a water change last night, as i couldnt find my fish bucket. But the Angel is back to normal and eating. I'll have to find the bucket today.
