My two Bichirs are floating

I recently got 2 Senegal bichirs (2") and they were swimming around lots at first, and now they are just floating at the top of the tank and won't come down. Is there anything wrong or is it normal? If anyone can tell me its appreciated. Thanks!

hmmm since they are new try turning light off, not normal behavior, light will cause some stress, they are normally near bottom

How long has the tank been set up? Is it cycled?

Check the water quality for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and pH.

Do a 75% water change and gravel clean the substrate every day for a week.
Make sure any new water is free of chlorine/ chloramine before it's added to the tank.
