i boughjt all my tanks and fish myself  lots of money for any1 expeciany some1 who is not earning can some1 give me tips on how to be more cost efficient,i have got a plan that i am going to breed (or try and breed) dwarf goramies, fancy guppies, and maby corys and sell them to local pet stores or even trade them for food or plants or even equipment.

your gourami is lovely. and so is your betta. i love his tank. lots of nice plants in there for him.
cheers

first of all, apart from the looks and breeding, are the tanks biologically healthy and stable(does it have enough filtration so that pH,and other stats are normal?)then id suggest having a gro lux light on them...very shiny and clear! :hyper: :shifty: and aquascape it like put those bushy plants according to size like amazon swords at the back corner vallisneria all along the back cabomba in the middle just make a natural scene.and except gouramis which are notoriously difficult to breed, just search on how to breed cories and how to breed bettas on google and youll see how easy it is!
shahrez
P.S:how did you manage to make so may tanks all on your allowance!! how much pocket money do you get.my tank is still quite incomplete to me so im gonna gradually turn it into an amazon biotope by february 2010!!! but atleast it would be beautiful and perfect and im 15 btw

thank you loraxchick i love them to, but i am trying to give him a more natural habitat or make the tank look bigger because i bought him when i felt sorry for him he was being held in a small plastc bag about 3cm wide

any tips, he seems quite sad now reasting on the leaves at the top and not eating?

well the tank is perfect for him. big enough and lots of plants.
it is normal for bettas to "sulk" when you bring them home and intorduce them to a new tank. people call it settling in. how long have you had him? what sorts of food have you tried offering?
resting is normal. some do it more than others. they will go off on patrol and then often come right back to the same spot. what is your heater set to. cooler temps also can trigger lethargy and a less active/hungry betta. are his fins clamped close to his body? just some questions to help you out and determine if in fact there is something to be worried about.
looking good so far. happy to help with your questions.
cheers

too another quick look at your photos. he looks good. is that java moss in the tank with him...the little frilly plants that are in the right side towed the front? if so(or any other type of moss) it needs to be tied to a rock or wood with thread or fishing line (thread is better). it will take hold of the rock/wood after a time (if you use thread, by the time the thread dissolves away it will be rooted). dont leave it in the substrate like that or it will die. you could also float it around in the tank if you didnt want it tied to something.
just another observation.
cheers

all my levels are normal, the murkyness in my 60l is because of a rescape i did about 20seconds before i took the first photo. its beautifly clear now and i have put the second filter bach on my hospital tank about the set up of the tanks on my allowance i have gotten great deals i only get 140 rand a month it has taken me at least a year to build up my miny aquarium.

they are a type of moss found in a river neer my house and they are tied to rocks under the sand is that sutable ?

it all sounds great in betta land...so hes eating ok them? lucky boy...nicely done tank for him!

you said he's not eating? what about the bloodworms. few bettas resist them...perhaps hes not used to eating flake. just keep offering and removing what he doesnt eat...he will eventually get the idea that it is food. just go easy on the bloodworms so he doesnt get bloated.
others look fab as well :)
cheers
