Below is the latest update on my tank, added the two "ground" plants today, aswell as a new piece of bogwood that forms an awesome cave for when I get my two Bulldog Plecos (can't wait for that!)

Sorry about the pic quality, couldn't be bothered to fire up the good cam :p

Thoughts/Comments? :) I'll be heading over to the plants section for advice on if I need to get anything to help them grow/survive. :p

I like it! The only thing I'd do is add more plants. Then again I like to make my tanks look like jungles.

Thanks! :) Yeah, that's exactly what I have planned, I want to fill the back with plants like the ones in the left corner, then have a few mixed at the front (like the lonely one on the right, lol).

I'd fill it straight away, if the LFS plants were not all £3 each :X

Its looking great! Do you have a C02 system for the plants or any special lighting?

Thanks!
Actually, i've been trying to get answers to that very question in the plants area with no luck!

I have nothing special at the moment for the plants, i've just de-potted them all and rooted them.

Can you advise on what I need, any sort of kit for them? I will be filling it a bit more with plantations along the back.

Looks great! As for the needs of the plants, it depends on what kind you have. Some plants are very demanding in terms of light, fertilizer etc, others are very easy to grow. I recommend cryptocoryn wendtii for low light tanks. It comes in many varieties and is super easy to grow.

Lovely tank. I need to read up on plants coz I basically won't have a CO2 thing and my light is the one that came with the tank so I need easy to grow ones that will be happy with just the plant food I bought.

What exactly is the lonely plant on the right?

P.s What size is your tank?

Looking awesome mate :good:

You going to be fully stocked when you've got your plecos?

Thanks for the comment :) I don't have any C02 running, just a basic tank with an air pump, but reading up in perhaps setting something up. I just popped into my LFS on the way home from work, and they have a few different things, I wouldn't mind peoples opinions on them, one of them was API Plant Fertiliser tablets, was a pack of 10, but it said for a standard 30L aquarium 6 needed to be used... my aquarium is 120L!! The pack was £5 so i've left it for now.

They also had bottled plant food, also API, that was £7... not sure if that's the same or similar stuff and will do the job?

Luckily, I kept the plant lables, i've dumped my old lables and thought it was a good idea to keep them this time.

The lonely plant on the right is called Glossotigma Elatinoides, it comes from New Zealand/Australia. Almost looks like watercress.

Looking awesome mate :good:

You going to be fully stocked when you've got your plecos?

Cheers buddy! :good:

Not at all, i've been told I can fit a fair few more fish in there yet, i'll be upping both tetras and hatchets to 6-8, then one more platy, aswell as the two bulldog plecos.

Here is my stocking list target (or similar) thanks goes to Wills for being awesome :p

3x Apistogramma Cacatuoides or any of the apistos
4x Male Platy
8x Glowlight Tetra
8x Silver Hatchet
2x Bulldog Plecos
3x Amano Shrimp
5x Cherry shrimp

I've asked my LFS to get me an albino one in if possible, will be picking both up next friday. I hope adding 2 plecos at once will be ok?

Sounds like its gunna be a good one :)

Apistogramma Cacatuoides :good:

Cant see there been any problem with it mate. How old are they?

Keep the pics coming

K

They look reasonably young in the LFS, i'd say at a guess about 2-3 inches?

Will do as I get more fish

Good choice on the Platys. I think a lot of people discount them because they're "common" but from where I'm sitting they're lovey, colourful, happy, community fish..........tho maybe I dunno what I'm talking about as I've had not yet lol. I'm certainly gonna be getting some though!

Thanks for plant info :)

For the plants you have in there, don't need much in the way of c02 to be fair. It might benifit you to buy some easycarbo or flourish excel. The most cost effective plant food I have found is flourish by seachem.

Ohhhh that looks fab.

I've found that you can buy moss balls on ebay for £1 and you get a big discount on p&p when purchasing multiple buys. I brought 5 moss balls and got 2 for free :good: and they look fab!
