My Tank

the common plecs will need bigger than 55 in the future and i think the balas get 8"+ and like to school and swim very fast so tehy might get hurt in a tank as small as 55 gallons.

im no pro but i think that bala sharks grow up to 10 inches

that would be 40 inches, 2 12 inch plecos 64 inches, senegal bichir 10 inches i think not sure, 74 inches, angel fish 4 inches *also have no idea how big an angel can become* 78 inches in total

have you ever heard of the inch per gallon rule? now i might be wrong up there ^^ but i think you need to look for a bigger tank,

i only put the plecos as 12 inches because thats how big you said they were

they will get to 2 feet eventually and i just gave mine away which was very hard for me because i had them for a year and grew very attached

everyone always says *i come on here for advice* well when we give you advice listen and don't cry about it, i dont want to be mean but if you want me to talk to you like an adult then act like one take all the advice that the people here give you and say ok, i will try that

you will need a bigger tank then 55 if you wish to keep your fish, that is the end of it, that tank looks great and you could keep the bichir in there and maybe add another angel, that would look very extravegant

and would lessen the load of your 55 big time, but as for the pleco's unless your planning on a 125, trade them in as hard as it is

and then your 55 gallon would not be overly done as you will have 4 balas at 10 inches only 40 inches you will be safe, and maybe go for some smaller plecos to top it off

good luck

If i were you, id get rid of the bala's and plecos. Also you have to keep in mind that these fish dont grow to their full size overnight, so its not like you have to get a new tank immediatly. Also with teh pleco thing, you may want to get rid of those soon because plecos like to suck on the slime coat of bichirs. Your senegal is a bichir. Not all plecos do this, but i had one that did and i have heard stories of others. When they suck the slime coat off, the bichir becomes vundrable to infections and stuff.
Also that inch per gallon rule is garbage.... Keep your angel fish and bichir, then when you get a bigger tank you can add some other fish. Also if you wanted to get another senegal bichir, do it now before it becomes an adult. When you add two adult senegals together they tend to be aggressive, if you grow them up while they are young they probably wont fight too much. I have a 55 gallon tank right now with my bichir in it. Do know the dimentions of your tv tank? Because if it is 30 gallons thats enough for the angel fish to live in.

Anyway, good luck with your tank!

such hostility  Angels usually need a taller tank too. What are the dimensions of your tank? i'll try to find the post about keeping angels.

I would like to say thank you to every one who posted. The response was mostly posative, and definately informative. I will be getting the 55 up and running in about a week. I guess I will move the big pleco and the balas over there for now, and eventually into a bigger tank.

The little pleco is only about 4 inches right now, so I think he will be ok with the Angel and the Bichir for now.

This all started for something cool for my daughter, I didn't realize how much time and money was going to have to go into it.

But I started it, and I am going to continue, I am actually having more fun with it than my kid I think.

It is a 30 gallon tank, not sure about exact dimensions

yah fish keeping is expensive! you think you're fine with the upfront costs for a tank but then 20 bucks here 20 bucks there it adds up! Good luck with the 55!
