My Tank....cycling

aslong as you have silk plants and real plants then everything should be fine, you need silk plants and real plants as plastic one's sometimes rips betta fins as already said. sand is better for cories but small round gravel (smallest sort is best not sharp edges or anything either)is ok they just prefer sand. betta go well with cories.

ill post it again in its own post! :p :p :

SET-UP:

plants: 3 real, the fake one is a MARINA soft plant: its like lots and lots of fake plants on one base, not like the normal ones u get, ill find a link to a picture.
gravel: rounded small gravel
decor: two rocks with terracotta plants on top + large pebbles dotted around
filter flow: at the mo its really powerful, ill change it to slow nozzle then point it to the back glass
wud this be ok?
cant find a link, but its like a big base, with lots of differnt types of plants coming from the base, like some tall and some furry lil ones and grass n stuff etc..(looks very nice)

indeed. Your tank seems suitable.

Im no betta expert but dont bettas need live/frozen food daily too?

aha, im stocked up with bloodworms and flake (they do take flake)

talking bettas, i like the halfmoon red bettas..are they ideal? are they alot of money?

cool bloodworms sound good. Btw - are they frozen or live? I want too get some bloodworms but dont know where too keep the live ones.

oh and btw, how many inches wide, high and long is yourr tank?

don't feed betta's freeze dried foods by the way. bloodworms shouldn't be fed everyday either. you can try you betta on flake mine ate in but other people say theirs don't like it. also i feed mine mushed pea's, pellets, brineshrimp, flake, bloodworm and other fish foods. some betta cost alot if their breeder quality but other in lfs can be under £5. it doesn't really make much difference what sort of betta it is.

i don't cultures of bloodworms as other things like microworms , vinegar worms and loads of other sorts are easier to keep.

but i buy live one's from my lfs they come in a little bag for about 99p. also betta don't need much food at a time a few worms is enough for a meal their stomachs are the size of their eyes i was told by someone on this forum.

i have loads of bloodworms in my pond though that are alive and you can take them out clean them for a while leave them for a few days so all waste passes through them and them clean them once more but i find it easier to just buy them.

you could get a culture of black worms fairly similar to bloodworms look around in pinned topics for blackworms it will show how to culture them aswel as many other foods.

my lfs dont sell em, i think, there never in the tanks? plus my other one that does eell em there alqays dead in the betta barracks!

i keep the bloodworms in the freezer, u have to keep them in under -16 degrees (thats wat it says on packet!)

jayjay, do u have any pistures of bettas that i cud see?

o lol! no i dont keep em i use them wen i get bak

sorry lol. i don't have enough live bloodworms to keep them in the fridge they all get eaten the day i buy them but yes you should keep them in the fridge as in lower their motabilisim so they will live longer.

frozen food should always be kept in the freezer aswel, you could freeze the live ones if you wanted to but you should feed them live to get the most out of them.
