hello everyone i posted here a while back when i had just set my small tank up and it all went wrong the water went milky and the smell from the tank was awfull i belive it was the gravel to blame  .

well with all that behind me i set the tank up again with new gravel i cycled it and added my first fish just over a week ago i went for 5 cloud mountain minows which i realy like and they seem to be doing great they are realy activ and love to swim in the bubble screen i have in the tank.

but what i wanted to ask was is 5 small minows enough for a tank of only 40 liters or can i add a few other small fish and if so what would be best.?

This small tank is only temporery as i just about have enough money now to buy a bigger tank i have seen its an 165 liter "aqua one 850" with the filter built into the hood i cant wait to get it and start setting it up once it is all ready i will be transfareing the fish from the small tank to the larger one.

They should be fine if this is tempory, to increase the group numbers to say 6. If you do get the aqua one tank you mentioned, please budget for an exturnal filter. The in-hood filters regularly leak, and this is obviously not good. The problem is that once the media in the lid cloggs, the filter overfills the compartments, therefore the filter starts to leak. This is an obvous design fault, and it stings many new aquarists.

Oh that sounds bad the guy in the LFS told me the tanks were realy good and the filters were good also but if they comonly leak i may re think my tank selection what would you suggest i had budgeted £400 for everything the tank ,cbinate ,sand ,plants ,heater ,etc

if you don't mind second hand you can pick up some right old bargains on ebay and in the buy, sell swap section. keep your eyes peeled.

it looks as though you have your return valve in the water, it is supposed to be on the outside i think because if that leaks then the water would still flow back into your airpump

second hand :good:
i paid 100 sterling pounds for my 5ft/2ft/2ft tank / lights / heater / extrenal filter / cabinet / hood / its sooo worth it,,,,if your lucky you may find a stocked tank aswell ready to gooooo

has anyone had any eperience with an aqua one regency 80 - 180 liter that tank looks nice and it comes with an external canister filter.

i bought an aquavista 830, its is EXACTLY the same as the aqua one apart from it came with an external filter and 3x lights rather than 2, tho i only use 2. the tank and cabinet are exactly the same, ohh and it cost less than the aqua one too
