I thought i better show some pics of my rays, I'ved had them for about 2 months now.

The litle male burnt himself pretty badly when i first got him and as you can see it's healed up well and his scar is getting smaller, the bigger one is the female.

 Would love to have some rays one day too !

How did he burn himself ?

He decided to cuddle the heater, was in the first few days i had them so hadn't received the heater guard.

Cuddle the heater ? :X Sounds like my Twig catfish (I learnt about heater guards pretty quickly too !).

Glad he's healing well :good:

Looking gorgeous Paul, they seem to have settled in well.

Gota love the Hemisorubim Platyryanchos aswell, mine is getting the spotted marking coming through really nicely aswell now and WOW has he grown fast. Mine has more than doubled in size in less than 6 months.

Ben

wow thats a bad heater burn you done well to get him back to good health

If happy, rays should be very active. Minimum size for a small pair is apparently considered to be 4ftx2ftx2ft, although you probably want something like a 6ftx3ft tank for a fully grown pair.

Any more pics to share Paul?

Ben

I must say when it first happened I wasn't too hopeful for him byt the looks of the wound but he carried on eating as if nothing had happened. Was healed up in about 4 days!

Oh there very active, constantly on the move looking for food, ask any one that has seen them on web cam!

There currently in a 40x30x20" tank growing on, they'll eventually go into my proposed 108x44x30 tank although for a pair of motoros for them to be happy at full size no less than 6x3 floorspace really.

Nah thats all the pic of them for now, maybe some bass pics in the next few days.

a happy ray is always active they are always looking for food

What, no love for the shovelnose??
The rays are lovely too of course, but I'm a sucker for shovelnose cats
