My Rainbow Shark

My Rainbow shark is getting ever more grumpy and aggressive where i am now at the stage i am considering getting yet another tank for him in order to save anymore grief for the other fish. Can anyone suggest an adequate size if i was to do this for him? There is the option of giving him away but i have had him for a while now and even though he can be a pain in the ass i am fond of him.

Hi i have had my rainbow shark now for a year and he only ever attacked the one fish in my tank a cat fish , i know that they can be teratorial and do not get on well with the same species. I considered taking mine back but have upgraded my tank to a 190 litre so there is more room for both of them. If you put him in another tank he may harass other fish unless you have a large tank i would consider trading him in as they can grow quite big.

rainbow and RTS are not big fish, around 6 inches or less. but boy do they need to swim, so at a pinch 4x2x2 would be ok, but as with most things bigger is better. do you have any hides caves and the like for your rainbow? lack of enough of these can cause aggression, lol but so can just being a Rainbow!

He has his castle which he is very proud of and also lots of plants and a bridge. I don't want to get rid of him as i've had him since he was a baby and we've been through a lot together and he's come through it so i don't really want to consider giving him away. How many litres would he need to swim in? I can't see him getting on with any other fish! I can't get a bigger tank as i've not got the room or the pennies since i recently upgraded to this one!

i did have, sadly it was killed by my RTS, just moments after i changed the tank layout, hence my comment about hides and things. while i had it i found it, shy, nervous but otherwise a delight to have in the tank!

Mine would be if he stopped being such a bully. He's magnificent to look at. Maybe my tank isn't big enough. I would give him away but i really need to know he'd be cared for and i don't think i will come by that very easily. I wish i could win the lottery. x

Right, well it''s got to the stage where the other fish were going through constant bickering and terror so i've put Seb in his own tank, it's not very roomy for him but i couldn't see any other option. I'm just gonna have to save up for another tank, until then i hope he stays ok in this one with his castle. I don't think he'd last anywhere without it. How many litres of tank does he need ya reckon? I am seriously running out of room now!!!!

He need a 40 gallon, but if he's on his own might get away with a 30 gallon.
