Many greetings from the Netherlands,

Simply beautiful, Joep. You make truly beautiful fish.

Off topic - are you the same Joep that writes some of the articles on Bettysplendens? Nice work, if it's you! (although NOT all of an organism's cells are 2n - gametes are haploid. Alo, fungi and some algae are haploid during the majority of their life-cycles, and many plants practice "alternation of generations - n, 2n, n, 2n....)

Yep that is me :*) .......thanks for the appreciation.

I know not all organisms are 2n but the most familiar are. I didn't want it to make to complicated. There is already to much complicated not understandable info available on genetics, etc. These articles are just an attempt to make the basis information more available for everybody on a easy readable and understandable manner, my medical biology background helps me a lot in this.

Many greetings from the Netherlands,

Joep

Understandable. I have a biology degree too, so my antenna went up. I think they are very useful and well written - it's tough to know what to put in and what to leave out so folks can understand it....On one hand, you want to explain the n of the gamete, because it's important when discussing the genetics of breeding - but on the other hand, you've got to make it accessible for your audience. I think you did a good job of it.

Where in the Netherlands do you live? It's such a beautiful country.

Ah a fellow biologist :D :D.
I currently live in Rotterdam. Funny to hear you know our small country....have you ever been here?

Greetz,

Joep

Yup, I visited the Netherlands for about 3 weeks - I used Amsterdam as a base for some of my other travels during a couple of months in Europe. Great city, loved waking up early before any of the other tourists were up, having a nice cup of coffee, and wandering the streets for an hour or two. It's a beautiful city.

I did pass though Rotterdam a couple of times - I think it was the train to Brussels that passes through it, - and thought it was lovely. Next time I'm on the continent, I'd like to spend some time exploring the other areas of the Netherlands - I've seen very little of it.

Cool :D :D.

Next time also drop by in Rotterdam if you want! Then I show you the Betta Territory :d:D.

Greetz,

Joep

Don't know when I'll be over again (hopefully in the next couple of years) but I'll definitely take you up on that offer when I make it over.
