I saw the heater in his tank was on last night, the heater is supposed to keep the temp between 72 and 82. I looked at the thermometer this morning because the heater was still on, the tank was 94!!!!!!!!!! :S (The water was almost warm enough for a hot tub!)
So I unplugged the heater and changed some of the water with cooler water. But I feel really bad for the poor boy!! The temp has lowered to 90 after the water change and from there I'm just going to let it drop naturally but jeeze I feel so bad, I'm amazed he wasn't belly up

Are you going to get a new heater?
At least he's all right!

I'm going to have to, I dont trust this one any more. It's one of the little ones that doesnt have a setting thingy on it :/

Now I must go check all my heaters... You've got me worried...

Owch, I'd certainly get a new one!

Glad he sat it out though :good:

KrystaK, you have done the right thing. When a heater runs away with itself we must each be willing to remove it from the scene. The heater in this case has stuck in the "on" position. In my tanks that means that it is time to completely disable that heater, it seems that it means much the same thing for KrystaK and she has done exactly the right thing here. No heater, or any other equipment for that matter, should ever be allowed to move you away from ideal tank conditions for your fish. We only get one chance to provide the ideal conditions for our fish and I, at least, do not take that lightly. My fish will continue to enjoy anything that I manage to learn from an old established tank.
