few weeks back I dug a hole in ground whilst prepping to flag the garden

if it wasn't for the pesky man hole I could and would have made it longer but hey ho

I ended up digging further down and making it slightly larger rather than cutting flags and put some concrete footings in

I've got 105 140mil solid breeze block. Putting 4 courses down today and getting liner tomorrow bbefore putting another course to finish off.

Can't wait to get water in and get some fish!!!

looks great !! nice start!

thanks Adam.

I will get liner tomorrow to fit what is now bricked up bar for last course after I have liner in. Coping stones will then finish it off

Looking good so far :good: , how long, wide and high is it :) ?

cheers

the inside measurement is 67"x67" x 42" not as big as I thought it would be but I'll do that in next house. This is my practice run lol

going to buy the liner today

does anyone have tips on completing it

I'll fit liner and lip it round top of the block in the picture .I'll then lay top course of block but will that need to be done straight away?

You need to get underlay first if you are using a liner; underlay is a thick felt-like fabric and will help protect the liner from stretching or tearing, and will also help insulate the pond- getting underlay will seriously help improve the life expectancy/durability of the liner and help keep the pond temp stable etc  :good: .

Looks very promising indeed :good: It's going to fit in great with your smart clean-cut garden too.

*sigh* would love to start my own pond from scratch one day.

What are you going to be stocking it with?

I've enjoyed the build so far. Its been a big job doing that and flagging, which has meant kids spend all the time outside instead of the swamp it used to be!!!lol

Just stocking with a few goldfish. I may try a couple of koi although probably noty big enough but I plan to move in 2 or 3 years and I can take em with me to my next house with bigger garden and bigger pond!!lol

More progress on the pond

used old carpet and sand at bottom of hole

then I had to make a cover before I could fill it due to my inquisitive daughter

then put iner in and fill it before attempting last course of block myself

need to render the sides now tidy it up and stock it

Looking good :good: would look nice with gravel at the bottom. A waterfall would look nice too, if theres a place to fit it in.

Did i miss something about a pump/ filter? or isit going to be a natural pond?

filter and pump are getting bought theis week when shop get them in

unforti=unately no room for waterfall and good idea about gravel. I wonderened what to do with bottom

finally added my filter and pump yesterday and the difference overnight has been astounding. water now crystal clear, I cheated and put some goldfish in before the filter ( bad I know) but they look great now in the clear pond

I need some plants and have a lily in there, but what plants can i put in a 40 inch deep pond. there are no shelves as its a raised pond
