My Platy Is Turning In To A Square

My female black platy is turning in to a square her body has like a squareish finish especially her belly is this due to overfeding?

It sounds like she's getting ready to drop as they take on a boxy looking shape just before they drop

It could be, but it's more likely that she's near to giving birth; 'squaring off' is one of the most reliable indicators of imminent birth in livebearers

Impossible to tell how close she is by the pics, but doesn't look that big, better close up pics would help

As i said before my female platy is turning square and lots of members thought she could havebeen preg. And they asked for some photos here they are.

It is a bit hard to tell from that pic (don't worry, I know how hard it is to get a decent photo!). She does look pregnant, but she's probably got a week or so to go yet.

Being pregnant + having a meal may make a fish look fatter than usual. Mine was already fat due to being pregnant, when I fed her, she looked like she could explode. She gave birth a week later though, but now she's pregnant again. Expecting more fry within 2-3 weeks, but I doubt I'd keep any more till I can be sure what genders my current 2 fry have.

If it looks like she has swallowed a dice, she is getting close to a drop. Have a look through my thread about my molly's progress that can be reached from a link in my signature area. Platies and mollies are very much alike.
