My Planted Journal

My only problem at present is from a company which many of you speak highly about, Aqua Essentials. Why? Well I put my order in on Monday and still havent got my ferts :( Just hope they come tomorrow otherwise this tank may go down hill pretty quick :(

Ah well :)

Joel

Goods were despatched on the 16th October - As you order weighs over 1.5kg, it's sent by Royal Mail Standard Parcels and their delivery time is 3-5 working days.

Hope this helps
Richard

Applicate the reply Richard. It wasn't a pop at you or the company more of a comment to provoke others into replying Lol.

when did you order the plants?

Ordered Monday afternoon, 2pmish and arrived today 11am via royal mail :)

Here is another update:

No im not the local drug dealer Lol. This is how the ferts look before mixing them up into a liquid form.

TraceInLiquidForm.jpg

Mixed up and ready for use :) I add 20ml of Nitrate to give me 10ppm and at present 20ml of trace. These arent set in stone as the plants will show how much they need by the way they grow, or not grow Lol.

Now for the tank :D

Looking good Joel. Nice to see "proper" heavy planting from the start.

You may want to consider separating the stems a little more to allow better light penetration.

Nice wood BTW. I'd be tempted to get more of that and lose the rock.

My £0.02.

Remind me what trace solution you mixed in the end. It looks very dark to me.

Thank you :)

Personally I would add 1 tablespoon of trace powder to 250ml and add 5ml 3x week per 100 litre of aquarium water.

That is what you said mate. I added 4 tablespoons to 1000ml of water. I then, if my maths is right but I dont trust it Lol, add 20ml of it since my tank is 400litres.

The rock wont be there for long I hope, its just weighing down the wood.

Going to leave it a few more days to see what happens. If I start pulling things out and replacing them now I will end up with another mud bath Lol.

Appreciate any constructive criticism though :)

Hi Joel

Looking just great joel, you sure have persuaded me to use an inline reactor when i get a chance, just a quick question, what are you using on the return pipe inside the tank, are you using a spraybar.

well done joel, and thanx for sharing

Gordon

Yep, I have a spray bar on the left hand side.

I have it placed so it bounces of the left hand wall and around the tank.

I did have two filters on it until the other day when my ehiem tap cracked off for no reason what so ever.

This will too have a spray bar on it when its up and running again but put on the right hand side.

Looks lovely :) should be really nice given a few more weeks to fill out.

Just out of interest, is it the aquaessentials trace? The web page says 1 tablespoon per 500ml then 1ml per 10lt tank water. How come you did 4 into 1lt?

Thanks for the nice comment  Not in it to win anything but more for my own enjoyment bu thank you :good:

UPDATE TIME

Lots of lush new growth now and added a few fish to test the water out. Water stats are fine its the Co2 im a little wary of.

Looks very dense now its brilliant !!

Heres a shot of the light colours. I find that they make the tank very natural and not as washed out as before with all that blue.

Here are a few tank mates. Hardley see thm though Lol.

One thing im a little worried about is algae. It has started to grow however I have been told this is normal to begin with and just make sure you keep doing things to keep them stable and to get a few algae eaters in there :D

Any tips welcomed :good:

Hopefully it does work out for the better.
