My Planted Journal

They are not in english however its VERY easy to set up.

Just make sure you have a decent amount of tubing and make sure its the plastic stuff not the ribbed fluval tubing.

If you need any help me and one or two other can help though :)

Joel,

This reactor looks good. I've been thinking about a reactor for my 240L tank, which will be setup once I'm back from holdiay at the end of this month.

Do you have it connected into the intake or outflow pipe of your filter ?
What part does the extra pipe with the 'ball valve' play. Can you divert the water flow to full isolate the
reactor chamber for cleaning etc ?

Many thanks

Al

I have it connect to the pipe that put the water back into the tank.

I have to say its VERY good. It only took me an hour to get a reading of 40ppm+ with around 3-4 bubbles per second.

The extra pipe does exactly that, or I think it does Lol.

The reactor is dead easy to clean, just unsrew the top take out the media and its done Lol.

I have had a slight problem with abit of leakage around the gas realease, not the co2 one, however that is now fixed.

UPDATE:

Plants ordered from here:
http://www.plantsalive.co.uk/

Will let you all know how my order goes :)

Looks good so far, and its good to see you've planned it so carefully. I'm interested to hear your thoughts on the reactor, another cleaver piece of kit to get something out of the tank. Just a few questions, does it mean you get 100% of the CO2 dissolved? and when cleaning do you find you get water everywhere, would seem that way to me!

Sam

Hiya folks,

Added the gravel now :)

does it mean you get 100% of the CO2 dissolved?

Not sure, is there a way to work it out ?
It does however work very well and within an hour I can get upto the right reading :)

When there is water around you will get wet Lol. However I get no more than I usually would. Just make sure I take it a little more slowly while I get used to how it works.

The first time I had to disconnect it, yes I got a little wet Lol, however now its just like taking apart your external.

Joel

Oh right, sounds easy enough, might try one when I upgrade the tank. I guess having it in the cabinet also means that it probably doesn't require much cleaning? The filter should also remove some of the crud from the water too.

Thanks for the reply

Sam

They dont look to bad and was very happy with what I received from them. I actually have a few left overs but im holding on to them to see if places need filling or took out and replacing.

The next stage is to get the big lights on but first im getting some covers to prevent nastys getting into the water.

Also the big slate wont be there for long lol the wood just needs a little soak, should only take a week at the most. Its only been out of the tank for a few days :(

Comments good or bad please.

Joel

The tank looks very good, Joel. I like the wood. Once it soaks, it'll serve as a nice focal point. It looks like the plant vendor took a lot of time packaging your order. Too bad they're in the UK.

When the water clears, take another picture.

llj :)

Nice looking selection of plants, whats the quality like? Arrangement in the tank looks good too, should be nice once it fills out a bit. Just one suggestion, have you tried removing the large rock behind the wood? It detracts from the shape of the wood. Just a thought.

Thank you for the comments people appreciated.

The rock at present is only there to hold down the wood Lol. Shouldn't take long for it to sink again its only been out of the water for a few days.

The quality, even though im no expert, seemed to be VERY good. No dead leaves what so ever !! Some plants could maybe have been better root wise but im not too worried :D I got a nice variety in size, colour and texture of plants which was great also.

So even though I gain nothing from this here is a shameless plug for http://www.plantsalive.co.uk/ nothing but great service !!

My only problem at present is from a company which many of you speak highly about, aquaessentials. Why ? Well I put my order in on Monday and still havent got my ferts :( Just hope they come tomorrow otherwise this tank may go down hill pretty quick :(

Ah well :)

Goods were despatched on the 16th October - As you order weighs over 1.5kg, it's sent by Royal Mail Standard Parcels and their delivery time is 3-5 working days.

Hope this helps
Richard
