I'm in the fishless cycling part now. Just started. So my plan is once it is done in about a month is to get these fish.

4x Glow light tetra
4x zebra danios
4x glo fish
4x black phantom tetra
5x tiger barbs

My filter is a Penguin power filter 350 with bio wheels for 70 gallon tanks got 3 live plants small. And air stones.

Just checking if this a good amount don't wanna overcrowd.

Hi your way understocking on there - your also putting in fish that need schools in low numbers. This tank would be better with less species in higher number and a few feature fish and also some bottom dwellers as this tank could look a little bare...

Not sure what kind of fish you like so just going on the basis that you like schoolers and throw in a few wild cards :)

Okay so 50 gallons based on schoolers.... got a few ideas so Ill start here -

Option 1 - small fish, big schools

5 x Pygmy Gourami
10 x Marbled Hatchet Fish
20 x Galaxy Rasbora
15 x Pygmy Corydora or 15 Panda Cories
10 x Rosy Loaches

Option 2 - getting bigger...

3 x Pearl Goruami (1 male, 2 female)
15 x Black Ruby Barbs
15 x Dwarf Chain Loaches

Option 3 - Asian 1

2 x Kribensis (1m 1f)
8 x Tiger Barbs (mix of colours if you want)
12 x Zebra Danio/ Glofish (same species)
6 x Dwarf Chain Loaches

Option 4 - American 1

5 x Apistogramma (1m 4f) (any species, there are many :) )
8 x Marbled Hatchet Fish
10 x Ember Tetras
10 x Glow Light Tetras
2/3 x Whiptail Catfish.

Option 5 - American 2 (larger)

5 x Cupid Cichlids
10 x Lemon Tetras
5 x Porthole Catfish

Hope those suggestions help out :)

Ah ok I'm so new at this. For some reason I really like the tiger barbs and black phantom tetras. But tiger barbs are number one on my list. I wanna get some bottom dwellers but I figured I'll get that later down the road like 4 months later. Thank you for your suggestions I was thinking I was over sticking good thing to know I have room to play with.

I'm a begginer so I'm leaning towards hardy fish don't wanna be responsible for fish death

The term hardy fish is not really fitting for if your doing a fishless cycle - the term hardy is more used by shops that sell fish to tanks where the owners dont know what they are doing. So eg - these Zebra Danios are good for the first fish in your tank and after a few weeks you can look at fish a little less hardy and return them. They sell these as Danios are tough and can possibly survive first week of an unmonitored fish in cycle - but obviously this is bad...

What Im trying to say is - so long as you are doing a fishless cycle and are committed to regular tank maintenance - the term hardy for fish does not really exist.

Thanks a lot wills. I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge with me. Now I have more confidence going on. I did a small change. So far I plan on 12x zebra danios and 8x Tiber barbs. Will add more to my list as my fish less cycles goes on going to be visiting stores and doing reaserch. Thanks again.

No probs

Those two schools sound like a good start! :)
