my pH is a risky 8.5

I've been told that that dosent matter for my white cloud minnows

however i want to buy some Kohli Loaches. what pH levels does the tank need to be to put these fish in it?

please help.

8.5 will be fine. a constant ph is much better than a fluctuating ph. so don't try to regulate it. just get the fish accustomed to the water slowly.

I agree with this. A stable pH is much more important than the actual number. Trying to alter your overall pH is not an area you want to get in to if you can help it.

Also, fish will adapt to a certain pH level, to an extent that is, but 8.5 should be just fine.

Ok thanks everyone but wouldnt the fish be stressed if they are used to one pH at the shop and then i higher pH in my tank?

Yes, this is called pH shock, however it would have to be an extreme difference in the two pH levels for you to be worried about it.

That is why you should properly acclimate your fish.

Id Just like to add

You could always introduce a nice piece/pieces of bogwood.

This in time may reduce the Ph say to 8.2ish, Would be gradual so not harmful to the fish.
I have a brilliant circular shaped piece in my tank and the water is a lovely weak tea colour which is perfect for my amazonian setup. :good:
