The next change will be on Boxing day when I switch to black sand and a black background  and all this when my tank is actually in a different city!

Nice pictures. I like your tank...all of the rescapes looked good. I didn't find one that I didn't like.

I see you are moving your tank to a different city. I am in the same boat.. I have to move in the next 2 months, 20 miles away. About a 30 min drive. Any suggestions? I have 2 tanks but can put all fish in 1 tank to help make the switch. I was thinking I would set up a tank in the new house first. Then bring some fish over. Do you have any recommendations for traveling with this fish. I have about 30 fish all under 4 inches. Most one 1.5 - 2 inches.

I like the carpet idea. And beutifull rummynoses! Over all, great tank. :good:

To Whitester - I don't actually have to move my fish till next year. At the moment I'm in student halls at university, but next year when I move to private rented I'm moving them from my parents house to where I am. My plan is to bag them all up in fish bags and put them all in a poly box. This way it can be stuffed with newspaper and stuff to stop them sliding around, and it'll be nice and dark so hopefully they wont be too stressed.

Then it's just a case of bagging/boxing everything else up and getting the car packed. I'm hoping it wont be too much of an ordeal.

To reedfish - Thanks very much :) If you look at the 4 stages of the carpet you will see it looked ok (although sparse) at first, but then I obviously had die back, so it went all shrivled and curly until the new growth came through (2nd + 3rd), so then today I finally got rid of all the old shrivelled bits and spread out my nice healthy carpet. By christmas I'm hoping it will have filled in at least as much as in the 3rd grassy picture.

wow, thats a lovely tank, how many litres is it. Nice scaping and good selection of fish! :D

EDIT: just read your siggy, 125l

I read your post and looked at the pics again and your right! I can see the four stages. Didn't notice it the first time. Large carpets have small starts. :good:
