Just yesterday I build a sort of "cave" for my otocinclus. I noticed he didn't like the light in my tank (because they're nocturnal) so I built a dark place for him. I dug a hole in the gravel beside the wall of my tank. Next, I placed an ornament of a boulder on top of it. There is a space for him (or her) to fit through and enter his new surprisingly (to me) dark home. He (or she) went there in the morning and is now creeping out because its the evening here in Canada. My otto even explores the inside of the ornament! I'll post some pics as soon as I can. So, do any of your fish love a certain spot?

Yes, my clown loaches actually start harassing/chasing any fish that came inside their driftwood cave. Most of the fish now avoid going in there, and it was only a problem for a little bit.

Cute! My betta Jerry loves resting on a particular spot on his silk plant.

yes my albino cory gang got a spot under the driftwood

My weather loach, Whiskers, loves to simply chill out in an old "castle" that is in my aquarium, often with his head hanging out of one side and his tail out of the other. So comical!

That sounds cute! It'd make an awesome picture! Loaches really are funny fish.

My male emperor tetra hangs out in the leaves of plastic plant that hides the filter. Any other fish go near he gets annoyed and chases them away. My albino bristlenose sleeps in a space he hollows out in the gravel underneath a piece of bogwood. He always has to dig out a space again after a tank clean up but it's his own fault, if he wasn't so messy I wouldn't have to move the bogwood to clean round it!

I have a 14" model submarine in the bottom of my tank and my female cherry barb likes to spend the night in there. When she disappears into it, I know it's time to put the lights out...

My plec hangs out in a craved out area under a piece of bogwood, most of the time I am awake hh/she is in there. I think once the new light I bought brings the plants a little bigger he will have more shade and will come out more often.

I  my ottos!!!!!!!!!! I suggest instead of giving your otto a place to hide get him/her a otto friend. they are a timid fish alone but very fun and active when with company of there own kind... Mine are now so brave/social they school with my danios now :fish:

mine also hides underneath an ornament ship in my tank. i can never find him in the day and can only view him in the morning or late at night. he's so cool!! or she...i dunno...

oooooh yes, my bumblebee gobies each have their own bit of the 10g, because they are very territorial. My favourite is the one who has claimed the rock, just sits there, and if another bumblebee comes near then it shoots after it. Theyve all got their own areas, theres usually one sitting on the magnetic algae scraper too.

My apisto's use a cave under my bogwood, my other fish just like the tank!

My shrimps love to hang on the wood that i have in my tank... upsidedown!!!

Then there's my black kulhi loach. Loves to stay inside the nutrafin CO2 ladder
