This is my 15 gallon fresh water tank. In it I have:
2 glass catfish (the other ones died and my LFS doesn't have more)
2 lemon tetras
1 oto
1 panda cory
1 neon tetra (other ones died)
1 Scissortail Rasbora
3 Serpae Tetras

For plants I have:
Java moss
Java fern

Water parameters:
pH: 6.4
Alkine: 40

I will be getting new fish soon

welcome
ok,i'll be the one to do it.What's an oloco? or do you mean oto.

edit:you've had a couple of fish die on you.have you cycled the tank?

Looking goof matey :)

The problem with your fish is that they're all sociable species so will need to be in groups. Is this in your plans when you get your new fish?

Welcome to the forum. I do hope you're looking for advice ...

Most fish like to be in groups of several of the same species. This is especially true of cory, who like to be in shoals of 6 or more. They also prefer a sand substrate, as they shovel through sand looking for food and shoot it back out their gills. Obviously that couldn't happen with gravel.

What is an oloco?

Neon tetras like to have an established tank to do well in.

Can you get a photo of the unidentified fish?

How long has your tank been set up? Did you cycle it before adding fish, and if so, how? What are your water parameters? Do you have a liquid test kit to find out what they are?

Again, welcome. You'll find just about all the answers you need here!

welcome to the forum. got to agree with the guys above, your fish are very sociable.

@stu, yeah, I meant oto. And I haven't cycled the tank, but all my fish I've had for over a year, and many of them for over 3 years, so it's not because of no cycling.

@minnnt, yeah, when I get new fish Ill be getting more of the ones I already have so th at they can have a shoal. As I said before, I haven't gotten new ones for over a year.

@ The Old Spouse, I know that they need shoals. I'm getting more so that they can have shoals.
I meant oto.
I'll try to get a picture soon.
And several years, no I didn't, and no I don't.

EDIT: I was already typing before you replied above :)

That tank looks nice, especially for a noob ;) I will admit that my first one looked much worse!

You have some stocking *ahem* problems. I strongly recommend that you always research your fish before you but them!

2 glass catfish - schooling and need much larger tank, ideally should be kept in groups of 10+ and are very shy
2 lemon tetras - schooling
1 oto - need lots of food, especially algae as they most often die of starvation, do best in groups of 6+ (although not schooling)
1 panda cory - schooling, do best on sand
1 neon tetra - schooling
1 other unidentified one - you should never buy any fish you have not identified first

Schooling fish should be kept in groups of at least 6, and ideally 10-15+. I have written up some information about it here: http://aquariumadventure.wordpress.com/2011/09/07/deciding-on-fish-numbers/

For plants I have:
Something else - Java fern?

I will be getting new fish soon
Please don't get any more until you do a lot more research about your fish, then please improve your stocking, for the sake of your fish :look:

My cousin had serveral tanks, but then he went to collage. Long story short, a lot of them died when his parent took over them. I got the survivors which is all there is. They were in schools but the rest died. When I said get more I meant more of the same type for them to shoal with. And my cousin knew what it was, but I can't seem to find out what it is. And yes, it's a java fern

Ok, so that makes some more sense, but it's still your job now to know everything you possibly can about each species… it sounds like you're interested in the fish, but if you are not, then it's best if you find them new homes.

Do you know about cycling? If not, that should be first thing you read about. There's lots of information in the beginner's resource centre on here and here's what I wrote earlier about it: http://aquariumadventure.wordpress.com/2011/07/08/fish-less-cycling/

Next, I recommend that you find the glass cats a new home. Find them a good one, with a school. You can advertise them in the classifieds section on here or find out if you have a local fish club, for example.

Finally, stock slowly when you get new fish so the nitrifying bacteria can keep up with the increase in stock. Try getting each of the schooling species up to 6 individuals per species to start with, if you can.

I'm definantly interested. I'm posting a picture of the unidentified fish as soon as I get access to a computer (I'm on a tablet now).
I'm planning on getting a new tank soon, and I'll start cycling then.
I love the glasscats, so I won't be getting rid of them. At my first chance I'm going over to the power store to get some buddies for mine. I'm also going to get more neons.
And thanks for that tip.

Great and great: remember about seeding the filter when you get a new tank (or you can move over all fish and old filter to new tank right away).

You should hold on getting any new glass cats until you have a new tank, which should be at least 90*30*30 cm in size… also, there are about 3-5 species which are called "glass catfish", make sure that you know how to ID them because that is exactly what you will have to do when you go to get more as you want the same species as you already have. You will not be able to rely on the LFS knowing what they have in because they can easily be mis-labelled on the shipment information. This is also why scientific names are best ;)

Okay. Thanks so much for all of you help :) My LFS lists both common and scientific names, so I should be good.

That should have said "hold off on the cats" >.<
